Dr. Robert G. Hoeft obtained his BSci and MSci in Agronomy from the University of Nebraska and his PhD in soil science from the University of Wisconsin. He served as an Extension Agronomist at South Dakota State University 1972-1973; Assistant, Associate, and Full Professor of Extension and Research, Department of Agronomy/Crop Sciences- University of Illinois 1973-2005; Head, Department of Crop Sciences, 2005-2009; and Interim Associate Dean and Director University of Illinois Extension 2009- present . Throughout his career, his extension and research programs have been devoted to proper fertilizer use to optimize crop production and minimize adverse effects on the environment. He has authored many popular and scientific papers on this subject and is co-author of the world’s most widely used corn and soybean book, Modern Corn and Soybean Production. Dr. Hoeft was President of the American Society of Agronomy in 2003 and is a Fellow of the American Society of Agronomy and Soil Science Society of America.
