Biography

Dr. Poomintr Sooksripaisarnkit received his LL.B. from Thammasat University in Thailand and LL.M. (International Commercial Law) and PhD from the University of Leicester in the United Kingdom. His research interests lie in the fields of marine and non-marine insurance law, admiralty and maritime law, carriage of goods by sea, and private international law (conflict of laws). His recent publications include ‘Insurance Contract Law: Should there be a reform in Hong Kong?’ (November 2011) Hong Kong Lawyer 26 and ‘A common law’s ability to solve insurance issues: a pessimistic voice!’ (February 2012) Hong Kong Lawyer 36. His article (co-authored with his former LLM student) entitled ‘The Straight Bill of Lading: Past, Present, and Future’ has been accepted for publication in The Journal of International Maritime Law. He is on the Steering Committee of the Hong Kong Insurance Law Association Limited (HILA).
