Biography

Dr. Friedlander is the Chairman of the Department of Otolaryngology at Tulane Medical Center.  He completed his Otolaryngology residency in 1995 (LSUHSC) and a head and neck surgical oncology fellowship in 1997 (Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center).  From 1997 to 2005, Dr. Friedlander was a member of the Department of Otolaryngology at LSUHSC and served as the Director of Head and Neck Oncology.  His research focused on tumor targeting and immunotherapy for head and neck cancer.
 

Dr. Friedlander joined the Department of Otolaryngology at Tulane Medical Center in 2006 and became Chairman in 2009.  Current research interests involve community outreach.  He directs healing the Greater New Orleans Coalition on Cancer – a Faith Based Organization focused on identification and elimination of health care disparities for head and neck cancer patients.  He has been recognized with the American Cancer Society Spirit Award (2009) and the New Orleans City Business Health Care (2011).

Research Interest

Dr. Friedlander has several research interests. His previous focus was on tumor targeting using modified adenoviruses as well as immunotherapy using CD40 Ligand. His current focus is on health care delivery. He is the director of a Faith Based Organization (Greater New Orleans Coalition on Cancer Health Care Disparity) whose mission is to identify and eliminate health care disparity for patients with head and neck cancer.
