Biography

Nuno Azevedo is currently a Faculty Research Fellow at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto. He has been developing research in the area of rapid detection methods for microorganisms, Helicobacter pylori and biofilms. He obtained his degree in Biological Engineering in 2001 at the University of Minho and then concluded a sandwich PhD between the University of Southampton and the University of Minho.  During his research career he has participated in more than 25 papers in peer-reviewed international journals, more than 10 book chapters and given more than 20 oral presentations in international conferences and workshops. He is regularly part of the scientific advisory committee of international conferences of his research area. He is also co-founder of Biomode SA, a biotechnology company aiming to develop novel peptide nucleic acid fluorescence in situ hybridization  PNA  FISH  methods for the rapid detection of microorganisms.
