Nilson Penha-Silva obtained his bachelor's degree in Pharmacy and Biochemistry and his DSci in Biochemistry and Immunology at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (Brazil). He developed post-doctoral works at the Southern Illinois University and University of Texas Medical Branch (USA). Presently, he is professor at the Federal University of Uberlândia (Brazil), where he teaches Metabology, for the undergraduate program in Medical education, and Enzymology and Biogerontology, for the post-graduation program in Genetics and Biochemistry. He has experience in Biochemistry, with emphasis in Enzymology and Metabology, and in Biogerontology, with emphasis in Mechanisms of Aging. He works mainly with organization and stability of biological complexes (proteins, membranes, organelles, cells and tissues), biological thermodynamics and metabology. He is member (483) of the Brazilian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (SBBq) and (202 938 964) of the American Society for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).
