Michele Nanna was born in Italy and received his education and Medical School training in Bari where he received his medical degree in 1978 at age 25 graduating "summa cum laude". After completing his training in Internal Medicine and serving in the Italian Army with the rank of lieutenant in the Medical Corp and discharged with full honors in 1981, he emigrated to the USA. He received fellowship training in Cardiovascular Disease at the University of Southern California where he graduated in 1986. Upon completion of his fellowship he took his first academic position as Assistant professor of Medicine at the University of Rochester in 1986. In 1988 he came to New York City where he joined the full time faculty at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine where he rose to the rank of Associate professor of Medicine in 1994. While at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine he has served as Director of the Coronary care Unit at Jacobi Hospital from 1988 to 1992 and as Director of the Non Invasive Laboratory at Montefiore Medical Center from 1992 to 2002. In 2002 he founded Cardiac care and Vascular Medicine, a private cardiology practice and clinical research center where he currently serves as Medical Director. He is Board Certified in internal Medicine and Cardiology and holds re-certification diplomas in both specialties . He is an internationally recognized expert in the field of Cardiovascular Disease and Non Invasive diagnostic modalities. He is the recipient of several federal and industry grants. He is the Author and co-Author of numerous peer review publications and book chapters. He is a member of the Editorial Board and ad hoc reviewer of major Cardiology Journals and has received awards for excellence in reviewing scientific manuscripts.
