Dr. Brand is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science at the Oklahoma University Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Dr. Brand is also an adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Promotion Sciences in the College of Public Health. He is a licensed clinical social worker.Dr. Brand specializes in the treatment of mood disorders, psychological trauma, substance use disorders and the psychosocial management of pain and illness. He has over 25 years of experience as a clinician, educator and researchers. Dr. Brand served as a senior clinical administrator in several behavioral health systems in Texas, Idaho, and Oklahoma for 15 years before beginning his academic career. As an educator, he has taught at the undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate levels in social work, counseling, psychiatry and public health. Dr. Brand's research interests include: substance abuse, psychological trauma, mood disorders and chronic pain comorbidities, medical school and public health educational assessment and outcomes, and disaster mental health. He is a Medical Services Corps Officer in the United States Army Reserve. He served two tours in Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) providing mental health services. Dr. Brand is also a member of the Oklahoma Medical Reserve Corps.
