Dr. Livio Luongo was born in Naples on 06-September-1979. He received degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry in 2004. In 2008 terminated the PhD in Pharmacology at the Second University of Naples. During the PhD Dr. Livio Luongo spent half of his PhD in London “Wolfson CARD” King’s College, London, UK, working with Prof. Marzia Malcangio on the mechanism at the basis of neuropathic pain and, in particular, on the involvement of the microglia in the induction and maintenance of symptoms associated with neuropathic pain. In 2012 Dr. Luongo finished the post-doctoral fellowship. In 2013 Dr. Luongo received a national Grant to study the involvement of the peripheral and central immune system in the pathophysiology of neuropathic pain from the National Ministry of Research (1.016.367 €), and he started his own research fellowship. Dr. Luongo is Author of 52 pubblications and several proceedings.
