Biography

Dr. Mohan KV is currently a Staff Scientist at the Center for Biologics Evaluation & Research (FDA), Bethesda, MD. He received his Ph.D. in Medical Microbiology (1998) from University of Madras, India for his studies on Clinical and Molecular aspects of HCV infection. Following his 3 years of Post Doctoral research in Virology (1999-2002) Dr. Mohan was converted to a full-time Research-Regulatory Scientist at the FDA and continues his work on Virology and other infectious diseases (microbiology)-related research. In addition to expertise in molecular biology of viruses (rotavirus, rubella, influenza, etc) and Biodefence-related projects (Smallpox and Anthrax) he is currently working on microbiological safety aspects of blood and blood products (viz. pathogen detection, pathogen biomarkers and pathogen reduction). Dr. Mohan serves as an Advisory Board member and Editorial Board member of journals related to virology and infectious diseases. He is a Life Member of the American Society for Virology (ASV) and a member of the American Society for Microbiology (ASM) since 1999.
