Biography

Dr. Lauson’s distinguished career as a specialist in orthodontics has spanned over 30 years. He graduated from the University of Iowa with his Doctorate of Dental Surgery Degree in 1971. Dr. Lauson spent two years in the USAF Dental Corps where he studied periodontics and was the Preventive Dentistry Officer of his base. After completing his orthodontic residency in 1975 at St. Louis University Medical Center he began his private practice in Metro Denver. During this time he refined the use of Functional Facial Orthopedics (FFO) which has allowed him to create ideal results in children and adults alike, while avoiding surgery and the extraction of permanent teeth. He has also defined a comprehensive method of treatment for TMJ dysfunction (TMD) that brings true healing through a permanent solution. In more recent years, he has found that this same treatment also offers healing for Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). He is well known in the community for achieving excellent results with complex orthodontic and TMD cases. His passion for knowledge continues to enhance the treatment he provides for his patients as well as the betterment of the dental community.

Dr. Lauson authored a ground breaking book, Straight Talk about Crooked Teeth, published in 2012. Endorsed by many distinguished professionals in the dental community, his book has also received complimentary reviews in professional journals. A series of articles showcasing the principles presented in his book were recently published in the Australian publication of The Australasian Dentist. Dr. Lauson is currently authoring articles for The Australasian Dental Practice on adult orthodontic treatment as well as on article on collaborative work with an implant dentist for the Journal of Implant and Advanced Clinical Dentistry.

Dr. Lauson has lectured at many national dental and orthodontic meetings and is currently listed in the “Guide to America’s Top Dentists”, published by Consumers Research Council of America. He was awarded the 2003 Colorado Businessman of the Year Award from the Congressional Committee on Business, Washington, D.C. as well as the distinction of Best of Aurora 2007 and 2008 for Orthodontists by the US Local Business Association.

In his spare time Dr. Lauson enjoys reading, playing tennis and entrepreneurial ventures. He has a great appreciation for art and music of many kinds, travel and loves spending time with his family and friends.
