Karin Pieber started medical career as a voluntary paramedic in the 90’s. After the study of Human Medicine at the Medical University of Vienna she started training in the field of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Medical University of Vienna (Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation). Since 2007 she work there as a consultant and as the head of different outpatient clinics (foot related complaints, sports medicine). Concerning inpatients, her focus currently lies on orthopedic patients. Prior to that, she worked with palliative care patients. As she participate in different sports herself, she was very interested in this field. Therefore, her research is concentrated on different sport and orthopedic topics so far. Since 2009 she is a member of the Medical Centre of the Vienna City Marathon and 2011 she was part of the Medical team at the night slalom in Flachau.
