Biography

Dr. James Albert is Associate Professor at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, with more than 20 years experience collecting fishes in remote areas of the tropics.  To date with colleagues Dr. Albert has 76 peer-reviewed publications with descriptions of over 50 species, five genera, and six subfamilies.  Dr. Albert is co-editor with Dr. Roberto Reis of Historical Biogeography of Neotropical Freshwater Fishes (UC Press, 2011), which explores the evolutionary forces underlying the formation of the Amazon fish fauna.
