Harding University

Biography

Dr. North is an Assistant Professor in the College of Pharmacy at Harding University. He attended Texas Southern University where he received a BS and MS in Biology. In 2011, he received a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences with a specialization in Medicinal Chemistry from Howard University. Then he completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in Computational Chemistry at Howard University. His research interests lie in the design and discovery of novel anticonvulsant agents. He has published articles on the synthesis of enaminone derivatives and elucidation of the structure activity relationship (SAR) between them with the aid of X-ray crystallography studies. He later studied enaminones by using in silico computational studies to provide a logical explanation to produce novel compounds for epilepsy. He is a member of several professional organizations including American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP), American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS), and American Chemical Society (ACS).

Research Interest

Dr. North’s research interests include drug design and discovery of small molecules for neurological disorders using computer-aided lead discovery and optimization.
