Biography

Dr. Bhat received his B.Sc. in Biology/Chemistry, and M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry from University of Kashmir, India. He received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston, Texas. Dr. Bhat currently teaches at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and his research interests focus on the elucidation of biochemical and molecular mechanisms of hormonal breast carcinogenesis. His work has been supported by grants from National Cancer Institute, National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences and by several non-profit organizations including Jean Sindab Breast Cancer Foundation, Avon Breast Cancer Foundation, Women against Risk, and University of Missouri Research Board. Dr. Bhat has received several honors during his academic and research career including Doctor Edward Reynolds; Elias Hochman; James E. Beall; Jeane B. Kempner; National Research Service; and Calderone awards. He is the editor of SOJ Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences and on the editorial board of several scientific journals.
