Dr Hamdy Abdelkader, BPharm, MSc, PhD, FHEA: Hamdy received his BPharm from Alexandria University, Alexandria, Egypt in 2000 and he has been a registered pharmacist since 2001. He worked as a hospital pharmacist for one year at The General Naval Hospital, Alexandria, Egypt. Hamdy was awarded a PhD degree from the School of Pharmacy, The University of Auckland, New Zealand October 2011. In 2012, he was employed as a lecturer in Pharmaceutics, Minia University. Hamdy started a Leverhulme fellowship at Kingston University London in 2013 and for two years. The current focus is on developing and optimizing a novel drug therapy for age-related ocular diseases of the anterior segment of the eye, e.g. corneal disorders and age-related nuclear cataract. Hamdy’s research work demonstrated a significant contribution to the field of Pharmaceutics, clinical ophthalmology and ocular drug delivery. Hamdy has been invited to speak about his research in international conference in Spain, USA, Australia, New Zealand and Egypt. Hamdy is a reviewer for high impact-factor journals, e.g. Expert Opinion on Drug Delivery, Journal of Microencapsulation, Drug Development and Industrial Pharmacy, Journal of liposome Research, Experimental Eye Research and International Journal of Pharmaceutics. He is on the editorial board member of Archives of Pharmacy Practice and Ophthalmology and Ophthalmic Research. On the teaching side of career, Hamdy has lectured in Pharmaceutics at Egyptian public and private universities as well as teaching at international level at Kingston University London. Hamdy has gained the full fellowship of Higher Education Academy of the UK as a measure of his excellence in enhancing teaching and learning in higher education.
