Biography

Dr. Diponkar Banerjee is the Executive Medical Director of the Provincial Health Services Authority’s Laboratories that include the BC Cancer Agency, the BC Centre for Disease Control, BC Children’s Hospital, and Riverview Hospital. He is a Clinical Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of British Columbia, and the Provincial Program Leader, Cancer Pathology for the BC Cancer Agency. He is also the current chair of the Canadian Association of Pathologists’ Section of Patient Safety and Quality Assurance.
He was previously appointed as Chief of Oncologic Pathology at the Princess Margaret Hospital/Ontario Cancer Institute from 1991-2000.
 

Research Interest

His current research interests are in the molecular pathogenesis of Hodgkin lymphoma, molecular classification of cancers, and novel cancer gene validation through translational research
