Biography

Dr. Devinder is a specialist Orthodontist in the field of dentistry working as a Senior Lecturer in the speciality in Dr Harvansh Singh Judge Institute of Dental Sciences & Hospital, Panjab University, Chandigarh for the last eight and a half years. He did his BDS from SGRD Institute Of Dental Sciences, Sri Amritsar, India in 2003 and MDS (Orthodontics) from JN Kapoor DAV© Dental College & Hospital, Yamunanagar, Haryana, India in 2007. During his tenure in Panjab University, he has been blessed with the opportunity to be able to carry out various research works in his field, many of which have been published in reputed journals of his speciality. He has to his credit three textbooks related to his subject namely ‘IMPLANTS IN CONTEMPORARY ORTHODONTICS’ and ‘DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT PLANNING IN ORTHOGNATHIC SURGERY’ which were published by NOVA Publishers, New York plus ‘STERILIZATION IN ORTHODONTIC CLINIC’ which was published by LAMBERT Publishers, Germany in the year 2016. He has also had the opportunity to hold various posts in both the academic as well as the administrative fronts in Panjab University. such as Warden of a Boy’s Hostel and Chairperson of Scientific Sessions / Member of Organising Committees / Sectional Secretary of the conferences in the university. He has received numerous awards for his work in both the fronts such as the PUTA Teacher’s Day Award 2013 and best paper award of Chandigarh Science Congress (CHASCON) 2012. He has to his credit the fellowship/membership of many international societies and associations, who have opened the doors to him after critically evaluating his work and conduct in his field. He has attended numerous workshops /courses /conferences of his field and have up to date knowledge including that of Lingual Orthodontics (Incognito) and Clear Aligners. He has recently received the ‘Profile Of The Month’ Award for the month of May 2014 in which he received the maximum number of votes from IDA members throughout India, who considered his academic / administrative work profile to be among one of the best in the country. He has recently received a trophy and a certificate for the same from the Indian Dental Association. Based on the above qualities he also received the nominations for the Outstanding Dentist / Specialist of the Year/ Enterpreneur Dentist of the Year categories of the prestigious FAMDENT award 2014 out of which he got the Highly Commendable Specialist Of The Year (Orthodontist)for the year 2014 and was the winner of the Specialist Of The Year (Orthodontist) for the year 2015 . He has also been conferred with the Best Dentist Of The Year award by Heal Talk in 2016. Besides the above qualities,he has the mindset for some fresh thinking and creativity in the field of Orthodontics due to which he created a clinical innovation of his own and christened it the DEVI’S APPLIANCE after the first four letters of his name. It is an orthodontic appliance consisting of a stainless steel lingual arch with a soldered spring that is used to help in the eruption and alignment of impacted teeth. His work with this appliance has already been published in an International Journal of Japanese Orthodontic Society and it’s patent has already been applied and is pending with the Indian Government. He has also presented this innovation in 8th Asia Pacific Orthodontic Conference 2012 & 47th IOC held in New Delhi. He also presented his clinical innovation at the Young Investigator Award category of the Chandigarh Science Congress 2012 held in Panjab University and was the runner up there.

Research Interest

Orthodontics, the mindset for some fresh thinking and creativity in the field of Orthodontics due to which he created a clinical innovation of his own and christened it the DEVI’S APPLIANCE after the first four letters of his name. It is an orthodontic appliance consisting of a stainless steel lingual arch with a soldered spring that is used to help in the eruption and alignment of impacted teeth.
