Biography

Professor Olowu started his academic career at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ife, Nigeria, in 1997 and assumed his present position as Research Professor of Law (Public Law & Legal Philosophy) at the North-West University, Mafikeng, from 1 January 2010. Prior to coming to NWU, he was Professor of Law and Acting Director of the Walter Sisulu University School of Law and had served as a Ministerial Adviser to the South African Law Reform Commission (Project 25 – Minerals & Energy Affairs). Professor Olowu has also authored numerous learned publications through reputable legal and interdisciplinary outlets in Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe, and Oceania. The South African National Research Foundation (NRF) currently rates Professor Olowu as an ‘Established Researcher’ for his interdisciplinary work (2009-2014). In recognition of his keen research acumen, Professor Olowu serves on the Academy of Science South Africa (ASSAf)’s Peer Review Panel for Scholarly Journals in the Law and Related Fields.
