Biography

Prof. Chenzhong Li earned his M.Sc in electrochemistry and PhD in bioengineering from Kumamoto University (Japan) in 1996 and 2000. He then completed post-doctoral training at University of British Columbia in molecular biology as well as a research associateship in chemistry at the University of Saskatchewan where he led a nanofabrication effort in developing DNA nanowire-based biosensors.
Dr. Li’s has focused primarily on h eclinical point –of-care,biodefence and Environment related applications of bioelectronic sensing technology, in particular biosensors for whole cell and disease- related biomarker analysis.
Dr Li’s research is funded under a number of grants including private foundations, the National Institutes of Health, the Department of Defense and the National Science Foundation where he serves as Principal Investigator or Co-investigator. His research activities to date have resulted in 5 patents, 70 peer-reviewed journal papers and proceedings (H-index 20 by 2012), 2 books and 4 book chapters, over 110 presentations at conferences including about 80 keynote/invited lectures and seminars worldwide. He is the guest editor and editorial board member of the American Journal of Biomedical Science. He also serves on several editorial boards including the journals Nanomedicine NBM, the Journal of Nanoscience Letters and the International Journal of Nanomedicine, as well as being a reviewer and panelist for NIH, NSF and NSERC (Canada).
