Biography

Doctor Bränström is a clinical psychologist and he received his PhD in Clinical Cancer Epidemiology in 2003 from the Karolinska Institute, Sweden. Currently he is working as an assistant professor in health psychology and health care sciences at the Karolinska Institute. He is serving as an editorial member of Journal of Addiction Research & Therapy and Journal of Clinical & Experimental Dermatology. He has authored 21 research articles published in international peer-reviewed journals and one book chapter. He is a member of the Society of Behavioral Medicine and the International Society of Behavioral Medicine

Research Interest

Doctor Bränström’s research interests focuses on psychological factors related to cancer, cancer prevention and health promotion behaviors. He has a particular interest in developing new health-risk-reduction programs for families affected by melanoma, and in developing new strategies for communicating cancer risk information to those at risk for developing cancer. He studies strategies to promote behavior changes associated to alcohol and tobacco-related diseases. His current research also involves studies of mindfulness, stress reduction, coping and positive affects, and studies concerning decision making and health behavior.
