Biography

Ram Achyuth is a postdoctoral fellow in Cellular and Molecular Imaging Laboratory, Radiology, Henry Ford Health System, MI. Current goal is to discover and alter the signature miRNAs in tumor cell secreted exosomes to reprogram the microenvironment and control neovascularization in glioblastoma. I completed Ph.D. (2009) in the Department of Genetics, Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, India. I investigated association of genetic polymorphisms of cytokines and other inflammatory molecules with human gastritis and precancerous gastric lesions. Later, I joined Indian Institute of Toxicology Research, India as a scientist in 2008.I joined laboratory of Cancer Biology and Genetics, NCI-NIH for advanced postdoctoral training in 2009. I investigated inflammation mediated alterations could drive cancer development upon stromal abrogation of TGFβ signaling. My research was published in PLoS Genetics and highlighted in Nature Reviews of Cancer Journal. This experience allowed me to gain laboratory skills and a solid foundation in basic science research.
