Biography

Amit Bandyopadhyay received his PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1995 Currently he is a professor of the School of Mechanical and Materials Engineering and the Director of the Bioengineering Research Center at WSU His research expertise lies with laser processing of materials biomaterials rapid prototyping and surface modification He has published over 175 technical papers He holds 8 US patents 6 of his patents have already been licensed to commercial businesses and 7 more patent applications are currently pending at the United States Patent and Trademark Office USPTO Among others Prof Bandyopadhyay has received the CAREER award from the NSF and the Young Investigator Program YIP Award from the ONR Currently he is an Editor/Associate Editor for four different international journals and also acts as a reviewer for over 30 different journals and various funding agencies within and outside US
