Biography

Ala-Eddin Al Moustafa has earned his B.Sc. in Biological Sciences in 1982 from Aleppo University (Aleppo-Syria) and his Master as well as Ph.D. in Developmental Biology (in the field of Oncogenes in the embryo) from the Institute of Cellular and Molecular Embryology of the CNRS and Collège de France and University of Paris XIII (Paris-France) in 1988 and 1992, respectively. He completed his training as a postdoctoral fellow at the Biotechnology Research Institute of the National Research Council of Canada and McGill University (Montreal-Canada). After completing his Post-Doc training, Dr. Al Moustafa held, for several years, a position as Project Director and Assistant Professor at the Lady Davis Institute for Medical Research and the Oncology Department of McGill University, respectively. In September 2009, Dr. Al Moustafa together with his colleagues from Aleppo University established the first Cancer Research Centre in Aleppo-Syria within the Syrian Society Against Cancer. On the other hand, he founded the Middle-East Association for Cancer Research in December 2009 which is officially registered in Montreal-Canada. Dr. Al Moustafa serves as an editorial board member of several international journals as well as national and international grant committees related to cancer research.

Oncogenes and Onco-viruses (especially high-risk HPVs) in human carcinogenesis and metastasis,  Roles of ErbB- receptors and their interactions with cell-cell adhesion proteins in the progression of human cancer.
