Cardiac disease in China is on the rise. Though incidences of heart disease have increased faster in the city than in the country side, rural morbidity and mortality rates are now on the rise. Health statistics shows that the inadequate heart disease mortality rate in rural China has approximately doubled since 1988. The actual percentage of heart disease in rural China is unknown because statistics are fake with error and against due to difficulties in ascertaining cause of death in places where 90% die without consulting a doctor.

Cardiovascular disease has become the leading cause of death and raising a serious public health issue in China. The Chinese government has given the most importance to cardiovascular research, increasing funding to support basic and clinical studies, integrating resources and recruiting outstanding talent from overseas. In spite of the advances in cardiovascular research, China still faces significant challenges ahead in encouraging innovation, developing the prevention-oriented health policies and strengthening international collaboration.
