Consultant Anaesthetist and Intensivist, Santiago de Compostela University, A Coruna University Hospital Complex, Spain

Biography

Dr. Rafa Blanco is a Consultant Anaesthetist currently based at Corniche Hospital in Abu Dhabi, UAE. He is the Founder and Honorary President of the London Society of Regional Anaesthesia. Co-Author of National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence IP661: Ultrasound-guided regional nerve block guidelines. His main interest is ultrasound-guided regional anaesthesia, a field where he has contributed with the following: description of the Blanco block (quadratus lumborum block), Thoracic wall blocks (Pecs I and II and serratus plane block), an echogenic epidural needle (Rafa Tuohy, Vygon) and advisor in the design of multiple ultrasound machines.
