Biography

Prof Kebogile Mokwena is the head of the  Department of Public Health at Sefako Makgatho University and a PI on the Mid-Career Scientist Program. She is currently busy with a study on “Nyaope as a substance of abuse”. The study focuses on investigating various aspects of Nyaope use, and its effect on mental, physical, and social health. This is a very topical subject as literature report that there is an increase in substance abuse and mental disorders globally and South Africa is not spared from this scourge.
