Clarisa Beatriz Palatnik de Sousa

Biography

Palatnik de Sousa is currently Full Professor of Microbiology and Chief of the Laboratory of Biology and Biochemistry of Leishmania at the Institute for Microbiology. She is also level 1B Researcher of the Brazilian National Council of Scientific and Technological Development, Top Reviewer of Vaccine and member of the Executive Board of the International Society for Vaccines (2009-2015).  Her experience in vaccine development includes the development of the first licensed second-generation vaccine against visceral leishmaniasis of the World. The vaccine called Leishmune, was also the first licensed for prophylaxis against canine visceral leishmaniasis.
