Biography

Professor Babatunji Abayomi Omotara is an Environmental Epidemiologist whose research interest is primarily community based in Epidemiology and Environmental Health covering Primary Health Care, Medical Education, utilization of ORT by mothers, newborn care, meningitis carriage and School Health. His work in Epidemiology has been able to provide an insight into the extent of the problems posed by communicable and non-communicable diseases which are endemic in north-eastern Nigeria. His recent research is focused on assessment of the socio-cultural determinants of ageing among aged populations and various cancers (prostate, cervix and breast) with the view of designing appropriate culturally sensitive preventive measures.
