Biography

Dr. Daniele Barbaro was born in Livorno on 02/19/1960. He graduated in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Pisa as a student of the School of University Studies S. Anna (the "Normal" of medicine), with a score of 110 cum laude and dignity of printing the thesis (13/07 / 1984). He specializes in Endocrinology at the Institute of Endocrinology directed by Prof. Aldo Pinchera with 70 honors (20/07/1987). He attended the Institute from 1983 to 1990 doing research in the field thyroid autoimmunity.Since 1998 he is Director of the Section of Endocrine and Metabolic Diseases of the ASL 6 of Livorno.Since 2005 he is Adjunct Professor at the University of Pisa.He is the author of over 80 journal publications and / or scientific communications at conferences both nationally and internationally. Some of his work has been absolute innovations. In particular played an innovative work on the treatment of thyroid carcinoma with recombinant human TSH published in the leading international journal of endocrinology (the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism 2003) many other works have been published in other magazines of international prestige: Clinical Endocrinology (Oxford ), Endocrine Practice, Nuclear Medicine Communication, Journal of Endocrinological Investigation, Metabolism, European Journal of Nuclear Medicine and many more. He is the author of books specialized in endocrinology field and in particular on the thyroid. His book entitled " The thyroid "(Ed. ETS) is now in its 7th edition and is a reference point for many Italian specialists. In 2008 he published the book " The thyroid cancer management theory and practice "(Ed. SEU). The book has had the honor of the presentation of Prof. Ernest Mazzaferri (Ohio State University) undisputed world authority on the subject. The thyroid disease represents the main field of work and clinical research at the Division of Endocrinology is carried throughout the diagnostic interventional field thyroid. The department headed by Dr. Barbaro is one of the first in Italy and the first in Tuscany to use the laser therapy for thyroid nodules. As for this type of treatment, in hyperfunctioning nodules, it is the first center in absolute internationally.
