Research and Community Service Institute

LPPM, Institute of Research and Community Services, is an institute within intellectual component of ITB-BHMN and institutionally liable for facilitation and organization of association in research and community services and activities so as to boost reciprocal synergy of academic capability of ITB and the community. LPPM intends to be the top Institute for Research and Community Services, in array to facilitate Indonesian community to be an integrated, sovereign, and prosperous nation through the research and development of science, technology, and art (IPTEKS). LPPM guides the growth and make improvements of the community through activities of research and community services which are new, skilled, and reactive to overall growth and slight challenges. Institute of Technology Bandung (ITB) was established on March 2, 1959 ITB main campus is currently the location of the first technical high school in Indonesia. Each institution of higher education that started the ITB has the characteristics and work of each, they left authority on developments that are most important to the establishment of ITB. History of ITB began in early 20th century, on the proposal of the community authorities of that time. The initiative first pendirianya mainly proposed to meet the needs of a system to be complicated because of the interruption of the rapport between the Netherlands and its colonies in the archipelago, as a effect of the outbreak of the First World War. Techniche Hoogeschool De te Bandung was established on July 3, 1920 with one faculty Faculteit van de Technische Wetenschap which has only one major de afdeeling der Weg en Waterbouw. Driven by the idea and belief that the spirit of the Declaration of Independence struggle as well as insights into the future, the Indonesian government formalized the establishment of the Institute of Technology Bandung on March 2, 1959. Contrast to the dignity of the founding five previous technical colleges on the same campus, Bandung Institute of Technology was born in an atmosphere of full dynamics of a mission devotion of science and technology, which is based on real life on earth itself for the life and development of advanced and dignified nation. This decade will deliver ITB to the dawn of the new century marked by the emergence of a variety of ideas and the best ideas for development.
