Epilepsy is one among the most serious brain disorder with 2% prevalence rate in the population of the Republic of Mauritius. Around 24 000 people in Mauritius including Rodrigues are epilepsy sufferers. EDYCS Epilepsy Group is a volunteer non-Governmental organization formed in the year 1997 by a group of volunteers, patients with epilepsy and health care professionals, who aims at assisting people with epilepsy through advocacy, access to quality health care, educational support, employment integration and advocating People with epilepsy Rights. EDYCS Epilepsy Group is the leading NGO and is primarily dedicated to uphold the rights and addressing the needs of all those affected by epilepsy, through the promotion and provision of high quality services and working to ensure the continual enhancement of the quality of the people it serves. The organization is faced with countless challenges and priorities, be it in the health care sector, community education, training of professionals and non-professionals in epilepsy care, building advocacy around epilepsy and foremost mobilizing resources to sustain the long term development and programme in the sector.
