The specific aim of this research is to map compression effects on Acoustically Sensitive Microcapsules (ASMs) of different size and membrane composition in an aqueous environment using a custom-designed microfluidic set-up. Results obtained from the stress test recorded using 2D microscopy, will be used for a twofold characterization subjected to statistical analysis. Variations in capsule strain expressed in terms of Poisson ratio, and, volume compression expressed in terms of percentage volume loss will serve as indicators of viscoelastic and poroelastic deformation, respectively.
