Figure 2: Genomic double stranded DNA breaks (DSBs) are repaired by Homologous Recombination (HR) or Non-Homologous End Joining (NHEJ). HR relies on a donor template that can be used to deliver foreign DNA at a specific location. NHEJ is prone to errors, resulting in indel mutations (insertions or deletions) that disrupt the target site.
