Diabetes is the most common metabolic disorder associated with many complications. The condition develops due to abnormalities in carbohydrate metabolism and insulin synthesis. Diabetes is a metabolic disorder or a chronic condition where the sugar levels in blood are high. The main cause of diabetes is the shortage of insulin or insulin resistance. Type 2 diabetes, also called non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus occurs when the body doesn't produce enough insulin to function properly, or the bodys cells don't react to insulin which leads to a condition called, insulin resistance. Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a metabolic disorder in which insulin is no longer able to control the levels of blood sugar. Insulin resistance results in various disorders like hypertension, hypertriglyceridemia, hyperglycemia and dyslipidemia.
