Medicine for osteoporosis

As per available reports about 200 journals, 40 Conferences, 30 workshops are presently dedicated exclusively to medicine for osteoporosis and about 391 articles are being published on the current trends in medicine for osteoporosis. In terms of research annually, USA, India, Japan, Brazil and Canada are some of the leading countries where maximum studies related to medicine for osteoporosis are being carried out. There are two categories of osteoporosis medications: antiresorptive medications that slow bone loss and anabolic drugs that increase the rate of bone formation. Bisphosphonates, calcitonin, denosumab, estrogen and estrogen agonists/antagonists are antiresorptive medicines, which will slow the bone loss that occurs in the breakdown part of the remodeling cycle. The goal of treatment with antiresorptive medicines is to prevent bone loss and lower the risk of breaking bones. Teriparatide, a form of parathyroid hormone, increases the rate of bone formation called anabolic drugs. The goal of treatment with teriparatide is to build bone and lower the risk of breaking bones.
