Biography
Dr. Yi Qu obtained his Ph.D. degree in Environmental Engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology, where his research focused on biodegradation of natural nitro compounds. His study on biodegradation of natural compounds, 5-nitroanthranilic acid and nitroimidazole, led toward the discovery of two novel enzymes, 5-nitroanthranilic acid aminohydrolase (EC 3.5.99.8) and 2-nitroimidazole nitrohydrolase. To expand his knowledge, he moved to Pacific Northwest National Lab to work on proteomics in the group of Biological Separations & Mass Spectrometry. Dr. Qu is a member of American Society of Microbiology.
