Biography

Dr. Vera P Krymskaya is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, School of Medicine, Pulmonary, Allergy & Critical Care Division. She is the member of the Cardiovascular Institute, Center for Environmental Toxicology, LAM Clinic, and Abramson Cancer Center. Dr. Krymskaya is the Director of Education for the Airways Biology Initiative. After receiving her PhD in Biology with subspecialty in Radiation Biology from the Institute of Biophysics of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Moscow State University, she completed postdoctoral training in signal transduction at the Cardiovascular Research Institute, Moscow, Russia and at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. She received the Science Advancement Award from the LAM Foundation. Dr. Krymskaya serves on the editorial board of the American Journal of Respiratory Cell and Molecular Biology and as a reviewer of many reputed journals including the Journal of Clinical Investigations, Cancer Research, and PNAS. Research interests include cellular and molecular mechanisms of rare lung diseases cancer pulmonary arterial hypertension and asthma.

Research Interest

Dr. Krymskaya′s research interests are the signal transduction mechanisms of vascular and airway smooth muscle cell, remodeling in pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), asthma, and COPD, and cellular and molecular mechanisms of rare lung diseases.
