Biography

Mr. Rasel Das is a Senior Lecturer of the Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology at the University of Science and Technology Chittagong (USTC), Bangladesh. He is also a Visiting Faculty in the Department of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering at the University of Chittagong, Bangladesh. He pursued B.Sc (Hon’s) in the field of Biochemistry and Biotechnology from the USTC and stood First Position among all the students (Above 98% Marks) in 2009. He holds a Master of Science in Biotechnology from the USTC and consistently achieved First Position among all the students (100% Marks) in 2011. Then he obtained his Diploma in Bioinformatics from Uppsala University, Sweden and positioned Pass with Distinction (Above 85% Marks) in 2011. Currently, he is pursuing PhD in the Nanotechnology and Catalysis Research Center (NANOCAT) at the University of Malaya, Malaysia under Bright Sparks Scholarship (Top Malaysian Govt. Scholarship for PhD Students). His PhD topic is “Multifunctional Carbon Nanotubes (M-CNTs) for Environmental Bioremediation” under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Sharifah Bee Binti O.A Abd Hamid, who is one of the ranked Nanotechnologists in whole over the world. Mr. Rasel Das having research interests in NanoBiohybrid for environmental remediation, Waste water biotreatment, Bioinformatics, Enzymes immobilizations, Carbon Nanotube (CNT) based water purification, CNTs membrane technologies and Xenobiotics. He has published more than fifteen research articles in highly cited national and international peer reviewed journals. In addition, he has published two books on Nanosensor and Bacterial Pathogenicity from Germany which are now currently available at Amazon.com. He is an Editor in USTA academic journal (USTC) and also reviewer of ten peer reviewed international journals. Mr. Rasel Das is an active member of various societies including ACS. He has been honored by National Institute of Health (NIH), USA as one of the potential young scientists in developing countries and received many grants to participate in various prestigious conferences organized by them. He also nominated Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute grant for joining in a research team doing work on Bioinformatics field. He attended and presented more than 15 national and international conferences in many countries including Malaysia, India, Singapore, Vietnam, Japan, China and Australia.
