Dr. Simon Lin is director of the Bioinformatics Consulting Core and an associate professor of research at Northwestern University Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute, USA. He earned his MD at Peking University School of Medicine, and finished postgraduate training at University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. With interdisciplinary collaborations, Dr. Lin focuses his research on translational genomics and medical data mining. He has published 42 per-reviewed papers, and he was author of 4 books, 6 book chapters, and three R/Bioconductor software packages. He has been teaching at Duke University and Northwestern University and mentored 22 students. He serves the Biomedical Computing and Health Informatics Study Section of the National Institute of Health. He is an elected senior member of the IEEE and Sigma Xi. Research in our laboratory lies in the fields of Biomedical Engineering and Vascular Biology. The underlying theme is to apply novel bioengineering techniques and quantitative methodologies in combination with fundamental biological principles, to elucidate the parameters and mechanisms that regulate leukocyte and platelet function. The importance of the studies stem from the fact that ailments of the blood involving these cell types account for a sizable fraction of inflammatory and thrombotic disorders. The focus of our work is on three families of adhesion molecules and their ligands expressed on blood cells and the vascular endothelium. These molecules are members of the selectin, integrin and Ig gene superfamily. william teahan head the Artificial Intelligence and Intelligent Agents research group at Bangor University. The research group carries out theoretical and applied research into artificial intelligence and intelligent autonomous agent systems. Arash Habibi Lashakri obtained his bachelor degree in software engineering from Azad University of Lahijan, Gilan, Iran, followed by master degree of computer system & technology, faculty of computer science and information technology, University of Malaya (UM), Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Now, he is a Senior PHD candidate of University Technology Malaysia (UTM) in Computer Science and Information Security. Dr. Bashir received his B.Sc. in Computer Science from Mu’tah University in 1989 and his M.Sc. in Computer Science from the University of Jordan in 2002 for his research in speech recognition focused on building a large vocabulary speech recognition model for Arabic language. He awarded his Ph.D. in 2008 from the University of Lincoln, for his research in Retinal image analysis. He joined the Lincoln School of Computer Science at the University of Lincoln in 2009.

His research includes computer vision, medical image analysis, automated surveillance, artificial intelligence, speech recognition, and applications of active contour models.

Chandra Kambhampati received his Ph.D. degree from City University, London, for his dissertation on algorithms for optimizing control in 1988. He hold positions in the Department of Cybernetics, at the University of Reading, and the Department of Chemical and Process Engineering, at the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne. He is currently a reader in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Hull. He also heads the Neural, Emergent and Agent Technologies (NEAT) Group, and has a number of doctoral and graduate students, and research associates.
